The Children of Pan: Arcadians in Australia – book launch

Date - Sunday, 6 October 2019

In 2019, the Panarcadian Association of Melbourne and Victoria celebrated its 60th anniversary, with many events held throughout the year. One particular important project saw the Association, in collaboration with other Panarcadian associations within Victoria and other states of Australia, commission a literary work entitled The Children of Pan: Arcadians in Australia.

The official launch of the book was held in Melbourne at the Nikos Andrianakos Centre, Alphington Grammar on Sunday 6 October 2019. Book launches were held also subsequently held interstate, in both Adelaide and Sydney. The monograph was authored by Professor Anastasios Tamis and traces the migration of Arcadians from their motherland to all parts of the world and in particular Australia, with a significant focus on Melbourne. It recounts and illustrates the survival years, the years of maturity and development, and narrates the splendid socio-economic and cultural achievements attained by these committed and determined Arcadian migrants and their children in every corner of this continent.

The first print of 1,200 copies was made available for sale to members of the Association and to the general public. An allocation of over 200 copies were donated to universities, libraries and Greek organisations in Australia and internationally.

Copies of the book are available for purchase at a cost of $85.00, by contacting us at info@panarcadians.com.au
